62nd National School Games Badminton
Goa Boys and Girls Teams participated at the 62nd National School Games Badminton Championship 2016 - 17 which commenced on Feb 14 at Nashik, Maharashtra, in Under 14 & 19 categories. The teams comprised of the following players:
Under 14 Boys : Yash Halarnkar, Pushp Kane, Archit Bhargava, Om Parodkar & Ayaan Beig
Under 14 Girls : Dhiti Lotlikar, Maitreyee Telang & Riya Gaonkar.
Under 19 Boys : Suresh Pujari, Ritesh Borkar, Ashley D’ Gama, Dwayne Nazareth & Dattaraj Naik
Under 19 Girls : Sanchaya Gauns, Khushi Bakhale & Suprada Bhat
Prasad Bhat, Deelip Halarnkar, Sanjay Telang and Jaiwant Pai Kane accompanied the team as Officials. They were ably assisted by Mr. Nishad Bakhale who was of immense help to the management.
For most participants, this was their first school Nationals and a good learning experience. A special thanks to the Officials and parents who accompanied the teams and took excellent care of the children. Goa Badminton Association assisted the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs to select and depute the Goa Teams for the School Nationals.
