Beating the most successful pair Cai Yun & Fu Haifeng of China in their backyard. This was when he was 23 years old. 13 years on since his last best at the Olympics, no one would have dared that this master craftsman would still be playing badminton at the highest level. Ahsan is also aged 33 years, the last best from him was losing in the quarter-finals at the 2012 London Olympics. This pair is trying to achieve the unachievable in the world of badminton.
The other pairs that are in line to cause the Indonesians trouble are the Japanese masters, Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe, Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda, the fierce Li Jun Hui/Liu Yu Chen, and Wang Chi-Lin/Lee Yang from Chinese Taipei. If the Indonesian’s see-through themselves in the early round scares, this will be an epic medal to lose.
