Indian domestic badminton circuit resumes in December
BAI to commence domestic badminton circuit with two back-to-back tournaments in December 2021.
On 29th June 2021, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) communicated to all its state associations to get their players and officials vaccinated as the BAI officials decided that they will roll out the remaining domestic calendar with strict COVID guidelines.
But ever since there has been no update on the state or national ranking tournaments.
On Tuesday the 09th of November 2021, Omar Rashid, BAI Secretary for events said that after postponements of many domestic and international tournaments the supreme authority for badminton in India has decided that it will resume the domestic season in December with two tournaments for seniors (above 18yrs).
The first tournament will be held in Chennai at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, between 19th - 22nd December. Qualifiers will commence three days before on 16th December.
The second tournament will be held in Hyderabad at the SAI Gopichand and Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academies simultaneously between 27th - 30th December. Qualifiers to commence on 24th December.
Both the Tamil Nadu State Badminton Association and Telangana State Badminton Associations will conduct these tournaments under the patronage of BAI.
