Chinese stars withdraw from the World Badminton Championships 2021

The BWF World Badminton Championships are scheduled to be held in Huelva, Spain between 12th - 19th December 2021.

The World Badminton Championships started in 1977 when BWF was known as IBF (International Badminton Federation), was held once in three years. In 1985 the BWF made it a biennial affair and finally making this an annual tournament in 2005.

This is an event that offers the most number of ranking points and the winners will be crowned the WORLD CHAMPIONS along with a gold medal, but this doesn’t offer any prize money.

On 12th November the former All England champions Shi YuQi, Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Chen Long and No. 4 Li Junhui-Liu Yuchen will be withdrawing for the singles and doubles events. But there was no official statement that was released from the China Badminton Association on the withdrawals yet.

Along with them many big names announced that they will not be competing at the BWF showcase event. Players such as Marcus Ellis-Chris Langridge in men’s doubles category, Du Yue-Li Yin Hui in the women’s doubles, Hafiz Faizal-Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja and He Ji Ting-Du Yue in the mixed doubles.

In their absence many may get a lucky break to get themselves a podium finish at the BWF World Championships this year.
