BAI Series 1: Seniors Badminton Tournament
Badminton Association of India concluded its seniors badminton tournament in Chennai on 22nd December.
This was the first official tournament conducted by the BAI in the last one and half years. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the badminton apex governing body in India had postponed many national and international tournaments.
This was a LEVEL - 3 tournament with Rs. 10 lakhs prize money to be paid to the winners. A weak long tournament was organized in Chennai by Tamil Nadu Association held between 16th - 22nd December.
The event received an overwhelming response from player across India. Below mentioned are the results from the tournament.
Finals
- Men’s singles
5th seeded Kiran George beat Subhankar Dey 21-17, 21-12 in 39 minutes.
- Women’s singles
1st seed Aakarshi Kashyap beat Tanya Hemanth 21-15, 21-12, in 30 minutes.
- Men’s doubles
Hariharan Amsakarunan/Ruban Kumar R beat Ravikrishna PS/Sankarprasad Udayakumar 22-20, 19-21, 21-18, in 60 minutes.
- Women’s doubles
1st seeds Shikha Gautam/Ashwini Bhat beat Shruti Mishra/Shailja Shukla 21-14, 21-16, in 35 minutes.
- Mixed doubles
Rohan Kapoor/Sanjana Santosh beat Sunjith S/Gowri Krishna TR 21-18, 21-16, in 40 minutes.
The 2nd BAI seniors badminton tournament to be held in Hyderabad from 24th December.
