The badminton governing body on Thursday disclosed the list of players nominated for Player Of The Year for 2020/21.

The BWF awards are annual awards conducted towards the end of the year assessed on the year-long performance of the players in all categories. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BWF did not conduct these awards and the eligibility was extended from 01st November 2019 to 31st October 2021.

  • Player of the year - Male
  • Player of the year - Female
  • Pair of the year - Men & Women doubles
  • Most Improved Player of the Year
  • Eddy Choong Most Promising Player of the Year
  • Para-Badminton Player of the Year - Male
  • Para-Badminton Player of the Year - Female
  • Para-Badminton Pair of the Year - Men & Women doubles

Pair of the year and Para badminton pair of the year are the two new categories introduced this year.

Indian badminton fans have something to cheer for as the reigning world champion, world no.1, and Tokyo Paralympic gold medalist Pramod Bhagat is one amongst the six nominated shuttlers under Para-Badminton Player of the Year - Male.

The winners will be announced during HSBC BWF World Tour Finals which will be held in Bali, Indonesia between 01st - 05th December.
