Badminton England withdraws from Thomas Cup 2021.
BWF Thomas Cup is scheduled to be held in Aahrus, Denmark between 09th-17th October 2021, and the badminton national governing body of England announced that they would be withdrawing from the biannual event.
This decision came after three out of the four singles players were injured during the practice session and failed to find replacements for the injured players.
England was part of Group D along with Japan, Malaysia, and Canada. With this withdrawal, England has not made life any easier for the other teams. With each team getting 2 matches to play and qualify for the knockout stage, teams now have to rework their strategies to move forward. The Thomas Cup serves as an opportunity for young players to represent their nation at the highest level.
The players that were part of the team are world no.51 Toby Penty, world no.198 Johnnie Torjussen, world no.319 Harry Huang, and world no. 436 Ethan Rose.
